If you Suspect Mistreatment of Animals on Campus
Anyone concerned with an animal's welfare or aware of non-compliance with the policies, rules,
regulations, and laws regarding animal care and use for research and teaching on the University of Illinois
Urbana campus, should contact a member of the Institutional Animal
Care & Use Committee, a program veterinarian (Division of Animal Resources or
Agricultural Animal Care and Use Program) the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research or the
IACUC administrative office. Reporting an incident of suspected non-compliance or
mistreatment of animals will initiate an investigation by the IACUC.
Complaintants may remain anonymous. UIUC student and employee "whistle-blowers"
ARE protected
by Federal Law and University Policy.
Any concern about the welfare of animals on the UIUC campus can be anonymously reported to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (333-0034), the Agricultural Animal Care and Use Program Office (265-6296), the Division of Animal Resources (333-2564), any IACUC member or the IACUC Administrative Office (333-7789). These concerns will be brought to the IACUC. The IACUC will investigate the concerns and report their findings and recommendations to the Institutional Official.
